Brisbane Broncos star involved in car accident, taken to hospital, tests positive
Ezra Mam, the standout five-eighth for the Brisbane Broncos, was hospitalized overnight following a car accident, adding to the team’s off-season woes.
Ezra Mam was rushed to the hospital after being involved in a car accident on Friday afternoon, which was first reported by The Daily Telegraph and then confirmed by the club.
On Saturday morning, the magazine said that he had tested positive for a drug test along the side of the road.
To decide whether to charge him, the police are reportedly awaiting the results of the second test.
He is now the third player in the NRL this season to test positive for drugs during a roadside examination, after Josh Addo-Carr (Canterbury Bulldogs) and Braydon Trindall (Cronulla Sharks).
In a statement, police stated that they were looking into a two-vehicle traffic accident that occurred near Bardon tonight, October 18.
According to preliminary investigations, at around 5:20 p.m., a Ford Ranger utility was heading northeast on Simpsons Road when it collided with a Toyota Camry that was heading the other way, close to the intersection of The Drive.
The utility’s driver, a 21-year-old guy from Ipswich, underwent an initial roadside drug test; however, authorities are now awaiting the findings.
“Investigations are ongoing, and no one was seriously hurt.
Since then, the Broncos have released a statement and are looking into the situation. Additionally, it has been turned up to the NRL Integrity Unit, who will look into it as well.
The Broncos sent a statement through the publication that said, “Broncos player Ezra Mam has been involved in a road accident this afternoon in Brisbane.”
His injuries seem to be mild at this point, but he has been sent to the hospital for treatment.
The NRL Integrity Unit has been notified of the situation by the Broncos. At this point, no more remarks will be made regarding the matter.
This is the second time the NRL Integrity Unit has looked into Mam during the off-season after she missed the backend of the 2024 NRL season because of an ankle injury.

It’s known that a fan attempted to snap a photo with Walsh before Mam stepped in, causing the fan’s phone to break after the five-eighth grabbed it away.
The Daily Telegraph is aware that the situation is still pending at the time of publication, even though the phone was replaced.
