Breaking News: It’s been reported that Marshall cornerback Micah Abraham has resigned and subsequently signed with…

One of the nation’s most consistent cornerbacks over the last three years, Abraham was chosen by the Colts in the 6th round with the 201st overall pick.

“I’m really happy for Micah and his family,” Marshall head coach Charles Huff said. “He is a prime example of a young man who improved each year he was here, and his on-field performance continued to get better and better the harder he worked! I’m really proud of his determination, trust and leadership during his time here! He is another young man who chose to stay at Marshall and trust our process and it paid off for him.”

Abraham, a 2023 All-Sun Belt Conference First Team selection, ended the 2023 season No. 2 in FBS in passes defended with 19.

The Tampa, Florida, native finished 2023 with four interceptions and 15 pass breakups while adding 36 tackles on the season. His top performance of 2023 came in the Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl when he had five tackles, two pass breakups and an interception.

Abraham’s stance as one of the nation’s most consistent defensive backs has solidified during his Marshall career. He is the only player in FBS to rank in the top-10 in passes defended in each of the last three seasons. In each of those seasons, he has ended the year with at least 15 passes defended – also the lone player in FBS that can boast of that statistic.

Abraham’s 2023 success came after a 2022 season in which he ranked No. 3 in FBS in interceptions with six.

Abraham leaves Marshall as the all-time leader in passes defended with 55. He is also No. 2 in pass breakups with 43 and tied for 5th all-time in interceptions with 12.

The draft selection is also special for the Abraham family as Micah joins his father Donnie as NFL Draft selections. Donnie was chosen by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 1996 NFL Draft.
