Super Amazing: I call it stépping on higher ground, Ole Miss Rebels baseball Head coach Mike Bianco will leave team…

Mike Bianco, head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels baseball team, is reportedly set to return for the 2025 season despite recent struggles. Rivals.com was the first to break the news that Bianco will continue at the helm after a series of disappointing campaigns that saw the team miss the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back seasons.

Bianco and Ole Miss Athletic Director Keith Carter reportedly held a meeting on Wednesday, the day after the Rebels were eliminated from the SEC Tournament. The discussion included plans for the future of the program, with Bianco expected to make significant changes to his coaching staff. This could involve bringing in a new on-field staff member as part of a broader shake-up aimed at revitalizing the team’s performance.

Following the Rebels’ elimination, Bianco was asked about his future with the team. His response, “You’ll have to ask my boss that. But I expect to be back,” suggested that while he is optimistic about his position, the final decision rests with the athletic department.

Under Bianco’s tenure, Ole Miss has achieved considerable success. The team has reached the NCAA Tournament 18 times and won eight regional titles. Notably, the Rebels made two College World Series appearances, with a memorable championship win two seasons ago. However, the past two seasons have been marked by a sharp decline. The Rebels have posted a 17-44 record in SEC play and missed both the NCAA Tournament and the SEC Tournament in 2023.

As the team looks ahead to the 2025 season, they will kick off their campaign at the Shriners Children’s College Showdown, taking place from February 14-16 at Globe Life Field. This event will be a significant opportunity for Ole Miss to demonstrate improvements and regain their competitive edge.
