Sacramento Kings Strike Deal That Could Lead to Signing Oshae Brissett

According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Kings agreed to trade Jalen McDaniels and a second-round selection to the Spurs on Monday.

San Antonio intends to waive McDaniels, according to Charania. The five-year veteran averages 6.9 points and 3.3 rebounds over his career.

With a 46-36 record at the completion of the 2023–24 season, Sacramento advanced to the play-in tournament, where its season was terminated.

The Kings signed DeMar DeRozan this summer in an attempt to move up the ranks after placing second in the Western Conference standings in 2022–2023.

The team based in the capital city of California has serious concerns about its ability to string together stops, even though he provides extra scoring to an already strong attack that centers on De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis.

Trading McDaniels is a move that merits consideration because of his reputation for excellence at the defensive end of the court.

Sacramento may sign Oshae Brissett to strengthen its defense now that a roster slot has been cleared.

Numerous suitors from around the world have expressed interest in the 26-year-old wing, but he has not signed.

In his one and only season with the Celtics, the fifth-year wing averaged 3.7 points and 2.9 rebounds in 11.5 minutes per game across 55 regular season games.

In the playoffs, he also stepped up when needed. Against his old team in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals, Brissett helped lead a small-ball unit to a 20-0 first-half surge against the Pacers. He then contributed to a 7-0 run in the closing minutes of the third quarter, which gave Boston a 13-point lead going into the last session of a victory that put them halfway to the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

Although the Boston Celtics on SI excluded the Kings from the possible landing destinations due in part to McDaniels’ presence,

Monday’s deal alters the equation and finds the greatest fits for Brissett as he looks for his next opportunity. The former Syracuse standout might decide to bring his skills to Sacramento as a result.
