The Buffalo Bills are having an eventful offseason, even before the official start of the new league year.
On the same day they let go of several key starters, including Pro Bowl talents such as safeties Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde, as well as
cornerback Tre’Davious White, the team is also making an addition to their roster.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Bills have reached a two-year agreement with Mitchell Trubisky for the 2024 season, valued
at $5.25 million. This marks a reunion between Trubisky and the Bills, after his previous stint with them in 2021.
Trubisky’s recent years with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he served as Kenny Pickett’s backup, have seen a decline in his performance. Once
drafted second overall in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears, Trubisky is now primarily tasked with backup duties.
With the backup role behind Josh Allen now secured, the Bills can enter free agency with clarity regarding their remaining roster needs.
Trubisky departed from Chicago after four seasons to learn under the guidance of current New York Giants’ head coach Brian Daboll during
his time in Western New York. During this period, the former Tar Heel had the opportunity to closely observe All-World quarterback Josh
Allen’s leadership, which ultimately led the team to an AFC East title.
Although Trubisky saw limited playing time during his single season in Buffalo, his presence there helped revive his reputation across the
league. Despite his minimal on-field action, he managed to secure a two-year contract with the Steelers. However, his stint in Pittsburgh
unfolded in a manner far from ideal, resulting in a disappointing outcome.
