Jalen Milroe announces decision regarding his footbal future

Jalen Milroe, the starting quarterback for Alabama, has announced that he will forgo his final year of college football and declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. Milroe, who has been with the Crimson Tide for four years, including two seasons as the starting quarterback, led Alabama to a 22-6 record as a starter. Over the course of his college career, he threw for 6,016 yards and 45 touchdowns, completing 64% of his passes.

Despite his solid performance, Milroe’s play in 2025, under new head coach Kalen DeBoer, was seen by many as a step back. He struggled with a lower completion percentage compared to previous Alabama quarterbacks and helped lead a team that lost three or more regular-season games for the first time since 2010. With rising competition from quarterback Ty Simpson and incoming freshman Keelon Russell, Milroe chose to enter the NFL Draft.

Milroe, who stands 6’2” and weighs 201 pounds, is known for his athleticism, leading some to believe that he may be better suited to play running back in the NFL. Others, however, have compared him to Lamar Jackson, speculating that he could emerge as a dynamic quarterback at the next level. Given the 2025 NFL Draft’s weaker quarterback class, it’s likely that Milroe will be selected to play as a quarterback, though his future role will depend on the team that drafts him.
