Breaking News: Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith reacts to Tony Alford joining Michigan

Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has responded with surprise to the news of Tony Alford, a coach from Ohio State, joining Michigan’s coaching staff. Smith, who is one of Ohio State’s top recruits and ranked as the number one overall prospect in the 2023 college football recruiting class, expressed his reaction on social media platform X/Twitter.

The college football coaching carousel has taken another significant turn with the news of Michigan hiring Tony Alford, formerly the running backs coach at Ohio State, to fill the same position with the Wolverines for the upcoming 2024 season.

This development seems to have caught Jeremiah Smith, the Buckeyes’ prized recruit in this cycle and the top-ranked overall prospect in the 2023 college football recruiting class, off guard. Smith took to X/Twitter to express his surprise at the news.

Alford, who has been with Ohio State since 2015, was the second-longest serving coach at the program, trailing only defensive line coach Larry Johnson, who joined in 2014.

In his new role, Alford will succeed Mike Hart, a former Michigan running back and the outgoing RBs coach for the Wolverines this offseason.

Having himself played as a running back, Alford brings a quarter-century of coaching experience in the position to his new role at Michigan.
