Breaking News: Tommy Devito and other 2 players having issues with head coach and ready to leave immediately after……

Tommy DeVito's rise draws comparisons to Tom Brady, but Coach Daboll isn't up for nonsense | Marca

Tommy DeVito did it again. After an unflattering start with a 17-49 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Giants’ undrafted rookie has become a revelation in the NFL, earning him comparisons with none other than the legendary quarterback Tom Brady.

With his victory on Monday Night Football in Week 14, a dramatic  win over the Green Bay PackersDeVito accumulated his third consecutive victory, leaving the Giants with a 5-8 record and reviving a spark of hope in the postseason with four weeks of activity ahead.

Tommy’s hot streak includes 31-19 win over the Washington Commanders and 10-7 over the New England Patriots. In those four games, the University of Illinois graduate has accumulated 83 completions in 126 attempts, with 855 yards, eight touchdowns, three interceptions, and a rating of 96.5 points.

The rookie’s numbers and history have drawn inevitable comparisons to Brady, who was also a mid-season replacement and went on to win six Super Bowls and is a sure future Hall of Famer.

Despite everything, Giants head coach Brian Daboll does not allow himself to be drawn into comparisons that he considers out of place.

At the postgame news conference at FedEx FieldDaboll interrupted a reporter seeking to make the increasingly frequent comparison. “Yeah, we’re four games in. I do appreciate the question,” the coach said mid-question.

However, when the reporter persisted in questioning him, Daboll explained, “That’s a long time ago. I’d just say every situation is different. I couldn’t probably give you the answer that you are looking for.”

Daboll, who was a Patriots defensive assistant from 2000-2001 and receivers coach from 2002 to 2006, witnessed Brady’s rise firsthand.

Despite everything, he refused to enter the comparison game. “I couldn’t give you a tangible story or anything like that. It was a different time, different players, different team, but obviously (Brady’s career) is well-documented,” he said.

What’s next for Giants

In the locker room after the game against the PackersDaboll said he was proud of his team, of the commitment that everyone showed until the end to get the last-minute result and asserted that “that’s what it takes in December football.”

However, the HC takes one game at a time since “One year has nothing to do with the next. One game has nothing to do with the next. This is a tough league for everybody. You have to be able to handle the ups and you have to be able to handle the downs.”

Of the latter, he warned, “You don’t accept the downs, I’ll tell you that. There’s a lot of things that you have to do better to try to get yourself out of a rut.”

With DeVito in full ascendancy and coach Daboll leading a team that does not give up, the Giants will face the New Orleans Saints, the Los Angeles Rams, and the Philadelphia Eagles twice in their next games, in search of a miracle that will lead them to the postseason.
