NRL star’s $130k Bali nightmare after premature birth of baby boy
A GoFundMe website was set up for Cronulla teammate JDevastating News; A NRL star’s $130,000 Bali nightmare following a premature baby boy’s birth….Devastating News; A NRL star’s $130,000 Bali nightmare following a premature baby boy’s birth….esse Ramien to help bring his newborn son home from Bali after the infant was born six weeks prematurely. Dally M champion Nicho Hynes was one of several early contributors to the page.
The page was created by Ramien’s fiancée, Shell, a teammate who went to Bali to attend the wedding of Briton Nikora, a fellow Sharks player.
Ramien, who has appeared in 145 Sharks games, and his spouse have received complete medical clearance to visit Bali and have acquired all required insurance.
However, the expenses of caring for baby Teo have grown beyond what the funding would allow.
Shauvan Hunt made a tearful plea, stating that the expenses to bring the baby home could surpass $130,000. The baby boy is still being kept in an incubator at Siloam Hospital following an emergency cesarean delivery.
She posted on the Facebook requesting funds, saying, “After just 3 days of being in Bali, Shell went into early labor and despite the doctors and nurses best efforts at Siloam hospital Denpasar to stop the contractions, Shell ended up having to go in for an emergency C-section.”
Sadly, she had to undergo anesthesia, and when she awoke, her infant was gone from her arms and she had no idea what would happen to him.
Teo was taken to the hospital and given CPR for five minutes before he began breathing.
Teo’s medical expenses are not covered by insurance, and the tab is already over $20,000.
“Shell paid to stay with her baby boy while she recovered from her emergency C-section and was released from the hospital.”
“They need to be back home with their baby boy in our medical system because they are having trouble communicating with the doctors and nurses. However, since Teo is not yet breathing on his own, that would require an emergency medical flight, which will be upwards of $130,000.”
It is known that the Australian Embassy, the NRL, and the club are working to help the Ramiens and their infant return home.
