New Orleans Saints sign quarterback, prompting competition for backup
NEW ORLEANS —NFL sources confirm to WDSU that the New Orleans Saints will sign quarterback Nathan Peterman.
This comes after Jameis Winston signed with the Cleveland Browns earlier this week.
The 29-year-old will compete with second-year quarterback Jake Haener to be the backup quarterback.
The Buffalo Bills drafted Peterman in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
Peterman played two seasons for the Bills, Raiders and Bears.
He has played in 15 games, starting in five of those games.
Peterman has 160 pass attempts for 712 yards, four touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
He appeared in two games last season for the Bears but didn’t have a passing attempt.
Peterman’s last start came in 2022 when the Bears lost to the Vikings.
