Former Red Sox star enjoys four-hit, four-RBI game in Dodgers’ NLCS rout

It’s safe to say that Mookie Betts’ postseason troubles are now formally history. Earlier in the postseason, Betts, the former Red Sox outfielder and AL MVP, had a 0-for-22 hitless streak that dated back to 2022. However, he’s been hitting well lately, and Thursday night could have been his greatest postseason showing ever.

In the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 10-2 thumping of the New York Mets, Betts had four hits, including two singles, a double, and a homer, and batted in four runs. The Dodgers currently lead the best-of-seven series three games to one and can win the National League pennant if they win Game 5 on Friday afternoon.

Betts hit a two-run double in the fourth inning, hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning, singled and scored in the third inning, and added another single in the eighth. After hitting four hits in Game 5 of the 2021 NLDS against the San Francisco Giants, it was his second four-hit postseason game. In the postseason, Betts is one of 18 players who had two four-hit performances.

In the Division Series earlier this month, Betts, who was traded from the Red Sox to the Dodgers in February 2020, started to alter the perception of his postseason performance by hitting home runs in Games 3 and 4 as the Dodgers defeated the San Diego Padres.
