Giants’ Devin Singletary to Wear Saquon Barkley’s No. 26 Jersey After $16.5M Contract
The New York Giants already have a new No. 26 after running back Saquon Barkley’s departure to the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this week.
Former Houston Texans running back Devin Singletary, who signed with the Giants shortly after Barkley signed with the Eagles, will wear No. 26 for New York as he did in Houston, per Pro Football Talk’s Michael David Smith.
Singletary has worn No. 26 his entire NFL career. He wore it for four seasons with the Buffalo Bills and last season with the Texans. Though a No. 26 Giants jersey might be synonymous with Barkley, that isn’t going to stop Singletary from wearing the number he has worn for the last five seasons.
Being the Giants’ star for six seasons, Barkley sold plenty of jerseys in his time, and some fans are opting to save money by making their own custom Singletary jerseys from their old Barkley jerseys.
Last season, Singletary had 898 rushing yards and four touchdowns for the Texans and joined the Giants on a three-year, $16.5 million deal. Singletary has big shoes to fill as he takes over for Barkley, who had 5,211 yards and 35 touchdowns across six seasons in New York, but he’s looking to carve his own legacy in a No. 26 Giants jersey.
