quarterback Derek Carr is ‘very likely’ to return against the Carolina Panthers…

Coach Dennis Allen of the New Orleans Saints stated Friday that quarterback Derek Carr, who is attempting to recover from an oblique injury, should start throwing again on Saturday. Allen stated that while it’s too soon to say if Carr will be fit for the game against the Los Angeles Chargers next week, it’s “very likely” that the quarterback will be well enough to play against the Carolina Panthers on November 3.

Carr has missed the last two games due to an injury he sustained during a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on October 7. Allen stated, “This is not a question of pain tolerance.” In terms of simply being able to twist his upper body to make throws and being functional at it, this is a functionality question.

“There is obviously some pain involved, but the key component of what quarterbacks need to be able to do is rotate his torso in order to throw the football.” Carr was initially predicted to miss three to four games, according to Fox Sports. Before Thursday’s 33-10 loss to the Denver Broncos, the Saints unexpectedly labeled Carr as “doubtful” rather than out. Additionally, Allen earlier said that the quarterback’s status had changed from “week to week” to “day to day.”
