MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — Neal Brown’s days at West Virginia may officially be numbered. According to reputable source Matt Youmans, Brown is on his way out as the head coach of the Mountaineers.
Youmans, who is the host of VSiN Prime Time, has spent 24 years in sports journalism and has expertise in sports betting insights, according to his bio. He is also a former contributor on ESPN and the New York Post. Here’s what Youmans had to say today:
“I’ve got good information that Neal Brown is going to be done at West Virginia. I don’t think that’s going to shock a lot of people, but Neal Brown is going to be out. Even if he lasts to the end of the season, he is going to be fired.”
Brown, who has a 34-33 overall record and 22-26 record in the Big 12 Conference, has found himself on the hot seat after starting the season with a disappointing 3-4 record with losses to rivals Penn State and Pitt, and back to back home losses in primetime against Iowa State and Kansas State.
WVU director of athletics Wren Baker has remained silent about his future plans for the football program and what he will do with Neal Brown, but it appears that reports are starting to leak out that Brown is as good as done in Morgantown.
The West Virginia Mountaineers (3-4, 2-2) are on the road to take on the Arizona Wildcats (3-4, 1-3) Saturday evening. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. EST and the action will broadcast on FS1.
Head coach Neal Brown met with the media on Monday and recapped the loss to Kansas State, previewed Arizona, provided an injury update and more.
